I know its an old-ish thread but I came across while googling different classical guitars...anyway I googled the Almeria 3CSR and all the results are Polish!

Yeah, I’m still using the ole Lucero. It’s a good enough guitar to travel with, and actually plays decent. The action from the factory at the 12th fret was 8/64 and 7/64, which is right where I have my guitars set up at. It comes out to about 3.6 and 3.2 mm at the 12th. The intonation was 2cents off on the low E, and 1 cent off on the A and D strings. The treble strings were spot on, all at the 12th fret. It turned out to be cheaper than buying the Almeria and having it shipped, and it’s an awesome value guitar.

Is there a picture/link to this Lucero?

Just Google Lucero LC200S, or just Lucero guitars. Their website shows all their different models. It also will show where you can buy them.

I have a Miguel Almeria and it's great - in terms of volume and tone, it's quite comparable to my luthier built guitar (especially volume). Furthermore, it is much cheaper than any other big brand out there. However, it did have issues: uneven frets, inflating top beneath the bridge, dodgy tuners, wood dust inside the body and the label stuck at a weird angle. Nevertheless, these were either easily solvable or superfluous and great for its price!

@Larry

I owned a MJA 51120 - looks v nice but I didn't find it very good. The 3CSR is lower down so you might want to be careful.

@FeiKer

The MJA 50 Prestige is a deluxe model and I am sure it is v good. I suspect that lower and higher MJA models are made in different countries.

Unfortunately Lucero guitars are not available in the UK. Scott Ouelette uses one (Lc150) and has recorded albums on it.

I can't find any info on Almeria guitars, looks like they're not available in the UK. Spotted one on Amazon but there are no specs.

Hey Larry, I did have a Lucero, but donated it to one of Ramon Amira’s students. Now my only guitar is a Yamaha CG192S. I paid 300 bucks for it used and in mint condition.

To be honest I probably would end up getting a Yamaha when it comes time to upgrade.

You wouldn’t be disappointed with a Yamaha. As my only guitar, it’s definitely good enough. I had to lower the saddle and a couple of nut slots. That action from the factory was 4.5/4mm. Now it’s at 4/3. And so far I’ve tried Dogal Venetian, Mari trebles with Oasis basses, and LaBella 10PH? So far the Mari/Oasis combo is the one I like best.

It will be awhile before I change strings as I have to leave the basses on for another 30 hours as part of a test for Oasis through SBM. The Yamaha is built like a tank, and will probably respond well to night tension strings as a result. I will try some night tension next time maybe. The RC recital set is about 90lbs of tension even thought RC calls it medium tension. Those will likely be what I try next.

I've yet to put new strings on this guitar. I've had it since Christmas 2015 but have not really played it much, till now. I wouldn't know what strings to get to be honest. I know about Savarez, Augustine and a few others, and I know that my steel string guitar came alive when I put D'addario EJ15s on it, and D'addario do make nylon sets.
