Yamaha GC12S

Post by benbass » Thu Jan 18, 2018 7:19 pm

I am looking to get a factory made spruce top guitar. I found the Yamaha GC12S online but couldn't find any reviews. Anyone know how this guitar plays and sounds.

thanks,
Ben

I find Yamaha Grand Concert guitars to be responsive, lively, balanced, focused, clear and bright. I've played the GC12, 22, 32 and they all had the signature sound, except the 32 had a more refined tone, while the 12 and 22 sounded a bit "cheap" to my ear, but I suspect that sound would improve if it was played on a regularly basis. What kind of sound are you looking for?

I would like a cleaner crisper sound especially of the trebles. I have a cedar top Adalid Model 11 which I like but it gets muddy.

The Yamaha GC12 would be right up your ally and is an excellent guitar in its own right.

I have played a GC12C recently that was a superb guitar. I haven't played the spruce version, but the cedar version was a very nice sounding guitar. I would have purchased it if I wasn't in China when I played it. It would have been tougher to bring home.

Some guitars might sound better than others, but this particular one was superb for the price.

how much is the brand new Yamaha GC 12 C model in China? Do you have any photos taken for this particular GC12C or GC 12 S?

I don't remember how much it was. I was in Beijing at Xin Jie Kou, the street that has a whole bunch of music stores. Very nice guitar. I played a number of nice guitars that day, including some of the Martinez guitars.
