Alvarez Yairi Masterworks CYM75

Post by CKevin » Mon Feb 04, 2019 2:18 pm

Has anyone had any experience with an Alvarez Yairi Masterworks CYM75? I had a different model Alvarez Yairi years ago and I remember that it had a good tone to it. I can't find any YouTube videos on this guitar and no local music store has it in stock. Thank you.

There is a thread on this guitar back in 2014, hopefully the owner will chime in timely?

All guitars made by k Yairi that are masterworks are all solid top back and sides. K Yairi guitars made that are not masterworks are usually a two layer laminate back and side.
But they all are really good guitars in most cases.
If the guitar was made for USA import it will be a Alvarez Yairi.
If it was made for sale in other parts of the world it will be a k Yairi.
There can be identical guitars with different names.

They are nice guitars. Good tone, and separation. I think the Alvarez guitars are under valued. You can probably get a used one fairly easily.

Just to be clear there is a very big difference between an Alvarez guitar and an Alvarez Yairi guitar.
An Alvarez guitar may be manufactured by any number of companies from on Japan, Korea, China, even Spain.
But an Alvarez Yairi guitar could only be made in the factory of the master Japanese luthier Kazu Yairi in Gifu Japan.
These guitars are also sold under the brand K Yairi in other parts of the world.
Although many of the standard guitars made by Mr Yairi have laminate back and sides they are all very high quality and made with the finest wood.
His laminate usually consists of two layers of the same wood. Not a thin veneer over a core of much cheaper wood like poplar.
They are among the finest and most under appreciated factory guitars in the world n
