Nishino Shunpei Guitar

Post by powermrk » Tue Apr 16, 2019 5:30 am

Hi everyone, I'd just like to ask for advice on Japanese guitars.
Does anyone have any experience with luthier Shunpei Nishino?
Can you share your opinion in here please?

This question should be posted in the "We who love Japanese classical guitars" thread. You can also search that thread.

My friend have 1 Nishino guitar. Very clear and sweet sound.
Power is weak and dynamic range is also low. Good range of tone color. Excellent intonation. It is very nice guitar considering the price range.

It seems they are more popular in Japan than overseas.
Does it look like the copy of Hermann Hauser?

Yes, it is build in Hauser style. And you are correct, it seems they are more popular in Asia / Japan. It is a good guitar with fair price. I would say it is 2 stars price and 3 stars quality level (i have seen many guitars with the opposite, 5 stars price - 3 stars quality)

Nishino has built guitars for fifty years I think. Do you know if his guitars has so called "golden period" which means the built quality of his guitars in certain period of time is higher than other times?
By the way, have you played any Kohno guitars?

About the golden period, really sorry i have no idea about that. I have observed 2 Nishino guitar. One is his lower model, and the other one is his top model.

Regarding the Kohno guitar, i have observed closely 2 Masaru guitars and more or less 10 Sakurai (all top models : PC, Maestro, Maestro RF etc). All of them are quite nice guitars.
One of my friend here is an exclusive distributor Sakurai guitars for Indonesia area. So practically i will have a chance to try out some guitars regularly. :-)
