3rd Classical guitar

Post by Jon Gillard » Mon Jan 01, 2018 3:05 pm

Latest build recently finished, English Yew, from Kevin Aram (sadly the last he’s selling) Italian spruce, bracing based on Jeffery Elliott’s plans.
Thanks for looking and any questions/comments .

Lovely. How about a sound clip?
The time between the notes relates the color to the scenes.

Superb. The yew looks great. I love the heartwood/sapwood detail at the bottom end.

Jon that is indeed a very nice looking guitar. In particular the refined binding scheme.

Has Kevin stopped selling timber altogether or has he just run out of Yew...?

Thanks so much
Yes it’s very attractive wood, and goes through a colour change from butterscotch to grey and then cream at the sapwood margin

No just the Yew, seems to have plenty of other local timbers

Bridge is walnut with corian-faced tie block to prevent string damage
