Master builder in Germany to consult

Post by Amr Maamoun » Tue Mar 06, 2018 9:00 pm

Hello,

a humble amateur luthier here.

Can you please point me to some master classical guitar builders (hopefully with Torres' design) working in Germany? I would like to visit at least one, and hopefully convince any of them to give me some feedback about the last guitar I made, specifically regarding its tonal quality.

I have been playing for 15 years, and to my ears it sounds really nice. But I never held a master guitar in my hands before, so I don't have any reference point. Besides, getting to know some luthiers is also nice.

A search online gave a lot of names, but I know none of them (except for the Hauser III). Living under a rock here

Otherwise, what do you do to know how good your work is? Any tips?

:bye:

What about asking a (professional) guitarist instead of a luthier?
Happiness is when what you think what you say and what you do are in harmony.

If you know a professional guitar teacher that would be the first stop. :-)

In Germany there is a guitar teachers organization which lists properly qualified professional teachers all over the country.

You need more than one player, several will be a start. Don't be too shocked if one or more contradicts the others in respect of the sound. That's just the way it is.

Unbiased perspective.

Take it to a store that sells quality handmade guitars....would be my advice. SOMEBODY there, a buyer or a purchaser or a manager/owner should be able to provide a clear opinion.

They nearly ALWAYs have somebody on staff that repairs guitars too.....have them review it.

i think his situation is, he wants to sell it. The store is a buyer an possibly will not give the same price as a builder or teacher

No, I sincerely only want feedback, because I cannot trust my own ear yet.

Kris Barnett seems to be an excellent builder, in Berlin.
