You got me interested until I saw the $500+ pricetag.

Gil,

I bought a Super Light Classical Case about six months ago from the big river website....the price was $200 plus freight. It seems the only third-party sellers offering the cases on the big river website are located in Japan. My seller was located in California. The one I had was the best soft case I've ever owned, but they're not worth $600 in my humble opinion. They were an excellent value at $200.

Rokkoman Super Light classical guitar case (advertised 4.6 lbs weight) is now $399 shipped on Amazon. I just found on Amazon another lightweight case (around 5 lbs) for $79 shipped (Prime). Search "ProRockGear RG330FC Armourguard Light Weight Polyfoam Classical Guitar Case" and you'll find it. It likely does not have the YKK water proof zipper. But it is a lot cheaper and is only 1/2 lb to 1 lb heavier.

Does anyone have this case and what do you think of it?

Any updates on where to get Superlight in the USA? The major online marketplace currently has two versions, both in the $400+ price range. I found a German supplier online that has them for 230EUR, but that's it.

I'm thinking about ordering another one through Rakuten Global. The order goes through a Japanese website and price is close to $200 (yen converted to dollars), plus shipping. Shipping is the big question mark. The website checkout system is a bit different and wasn't able to establish the shipping cost without placing the order...not quite ready.

Hands down the best guitar case I've ever owned for everyday around town use. I'll keep you posted as I'm probably going to place an order in the next week or two through Rakuten Global.

Hi everyone,

Time for an update on my attempt to order a Super Light classical case through Rakuten Global. I placed the initial order on the Rakuten Global Market website and was able to use Paypal as my billing source. I learned that it's actually a two-step process - the shipping fees (important factor!) are calculated separately by a warehouse in Japan. My initial order confirmation instructed me to wait for a shipping fee email from the warehouse. Once I responded to the warehouse email, the entire transaction would be confirmed and my Paypal would be charged. It's been almost two weeks and I've heard nothing from the shipping warehouse. I've sent two follow-up emails to the warehouse with no response. Oh well, it was worth a try! More news as news happens....

It was once available on amazon where I got mine (I have 2). Looks like it didn't work out for them and so they pulled out of Amazon. Seems quite difficult to get now if you are in North America. I've been quite happy with mine so far and they've held up well. I can't imagine ever going back to lugging around a heavier case now that I've experienced using these.

You could consider the German distributor Fiedler Cases GmbH. Their price is 229€ plus 70€ shipment to the US and it looks like they are in stock!

I did buy this case from Amazon prime for $79 shipped. For that price, very happy with it. I am curios how leaky the regular zipper is so I am going to do this simple test: Place some tissue paper behind the zipper and use a squirt bottle and spray a fine mist over the zipper for 2 minutes, let it sit for 10 minutes then open the zipper and see how much water got through to the tissue.

I weighed my ProRockGear RG330FC case. 2185 grams (4.8 lbs) including the back straps. It feels so much lighter than my Crossrock fiberglass case which I believe is a little over 8 lbs. Another nice feature with this case is it's large external pouch.

Are travelites still around? They were my favorite foam cases. Super light, sort of Mark Leaf shaped.

Time for an update on the update....

Lo and behold I received an email this morning from Rakuten warehouse in Japan. They apologized for the delay and apparently the person who handles international orders has been out of the office. Anyway, I was able to confirm the shipping costs (approx $100 usd) and the order is officially being processed and my paypal acct has been charged. After shipping, about $288 usd. I've owned one of these cases before and I feel they're worth every penny. Nice thing about placing the order from Rakuten, is you have more color options. Coming down the homestretch and I'll let you know when the case arrives here in Louisiana.

That is very encouraging. I may follow you in ordering from them. Thanks for the update.

Okay folks....Ordered a Super Light case on March 15 and it arrived in good order today, April 22, $288 USD, including shipping. Just takes a bit of patience. Ordering direct from Japan was really pretty easy. This is my second Super Light case and I opted for the "steel blue".
