Luthiers in Hebdon Bridge

Post by PeteJ » Thu Mar 14, 2019 10:45 am

Is there a luthier in the Hebdon Bridge area (nr Manchester) that someone here would recommend for repairs and adjustments?

I wholeheartedly second Peter Barton who recently did a magnificent job on an instrument that I sold to one of my students - a "refurb" which has left it looking and sounding magnificent. It's so good ... I'd have it back in a heartbeat. Also looks like a good fit geographically.

Sam McClaren too - superb young craftsman - but Yarm's quite a way from Hebdon Bridge.

Nothing against the others - just don't know their work.

Many thanks for the suggestions. I hoped there would be someone more local but it was a long shot. I hate driving these days but it looks like the bullet must be bitten.

Rob Collins is in Hebden Bridge. His first love is ukuleles, but he makes all sorts. Haven't seen his work personally but I know he racked up his 500th instrument build before christmas so he must know a thing or two by now. Search for 'tin guitar Hebden bridge' for his website.

Here's a map of UK classical guitar makers, dead and alive. I've zoomed in to your area: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewe ... 99987&z=10

Thanks josswin. Nobody on the map is close though.

RedCliff - Aha. I saw his name on my searches but he seemd to be about ukuleles so I didn't follow up. I have to spend some time in HB so wanted someone close by and you may have solved the problem. Many thanks.
