Barrios Mangoré, Augustin - Preludio in A minor

Post by Denian Arcoleo » Sun Jun 04, 2017 2:55 pm

Hello everyone. I discovered this rather lovely piece yesterday on Spotify on an album by one of my favourite guitarists, Rafaella Smits. This piece, in common with a lot of Barrios' music, requires a lot of musical 'effort' from the performer...if you know what I'm getting at! Anyway, hope you enjoy it.

A very nice piece indeed. Some/many years ago, Angelo Gilardino wrote on another Forum that THIS was the one piece which caused him to go back and re-evaluate Agustin Barrios' music.

That's interesting David. The piece has a depth and humanity to it which I find touching. I'm surprised I've never encountered it before!

Cheers :-)

Lovely, Denian :)

Another favorite of mine by Barrios is an Emaj prelude that is rarely recorded. It may be on Gilardino's Barrios album, though.
