Barrios Mangoré, Agustín - La Catedral I Preludio - D09

Post by owl » Sat Aug 15, 2009 7:49 am

La Catedral is something I redid last year when I reworked several Barrios pieces.
There is probably about eight years between the earlier recording I posted on Delcamp and this latest one… I think you’ll hear the difference
We were lucky enough to still have Gary (our sound techie) around back then, so of course the sound quality is a big improvement on the earlier version
I think the guitarist has improved too
Enjoy ‘Preludio Saudade’… I never do anything by halves so of course I will post all three movements as I can manage it

WOW!!!

Thank you Owl!

You nailed it right on the head when you said you "never do anything by halves"!

How exciting to have you posting recordings again!!! I can't tell anything about "improvements", since your playing has always been jaw dropping for me...

Can't wait for the next installments!!!

(Do I use too many exclamation points on your threads)?

Thanks so much for listening Alan, V, Paul, Zukr and Evvie... it's good to know you enjoyed the music
It's always a little scary when you update something, especially if it's a little different to the original, so I'm happy your responses are positive
I'm up north on holidays at the moment and I can now go out sailing today and not want to throw myself overboard
Thanks again all :D

Can't you just hear and feel the ownership of this piece, and how our dear Owl has shaped the Prelude as her own with this second recording? The first time was great, but now... What a stunning development. As the time rolls foward, the impossible actually happens -- she just keeps getting better and better. I wish we all could grow in such amazing artistry, sigh, but at least we get the wonderful gift of her sharing with us such an exceptional performance. Thank you, over and over.

This is very beautiful! :casque: I love how you play the harp like arpeggios.
I also like the tempo, very natural ( too slow the music gets too sentimental.) .
And every note so perfectly played!!

A wonderful renditon!

:bravo: :merci:

Owl, what a fantastic performance you have given to us!
I am always so amazed at your playing ability. Total perfection!
I really don't understand you can manage to make your guitar portray so much emotion that it touches my heart so deeply. As always, I truly enjoyed listening to you perform for us. Now for the video???
I will be waiting and watching for the next 2 parts.

And thank you Kay for the flowers, you know how special it is for me to receive them
