John, just joined this august group and thought I would see how members handled one of my all time favourites. I have JW's version which I think is absolutely superb but I have to say your playing of this masterpiece was itself a masterpiece. Made me quite emotional.
Many thanks, Steve
Pat, you're welcome and fully deserve it.
What a wonderful programme of South Americian (Lauro/Barrios), Spanish ,Bach and your own compositions you played in last night in the cool ambiance of The Gables (restaurant/bar) Foxrock .
I remember reading sometime the words of Alvaro Pierri when asked in an interview what one needs to be a good guitarist he replied something like " to love the music" . That is clearly evident in your playing.
My appoligies for not replying to your kind comments until now as i have been busy producing my next album due out next month.Would like to sincerly thank you all for all your kind and inspiring comments and its a pleasure to be part of this great friendly classical guitar community.
Thanks Bill, and thanks everyone for your kind comments. i am so happy to be part of a community that accepts my playing and music. At home here in Ireland our academic guitar people do not rate me at all and dismiss my work so thank you all):
I find it it odd others would dismiss your work. You're clearly a music lover and a very talented guitarist. If these academic guitar people look down on you then it's not music what they are about. Don't let anyone discourage you, au contraire, keep on posting your high quality recordings in this forum. Contributions like yours are what make this site a valuable place.
Thanks for posting this video, great job!

who are these so-called academics? Why is it that you need a PHD these days to be taken seriously - they are the joke, not you! You're playing is honest and you wear your heart on your sleeve - I respect that a whole lot more than some fool in an ivory tower....
I liked the opera very much. Everything but the music.
Well it is the way it is in Ireland..wevard...years ago my confidence as a player was shattered as i couldnt conform to the academic way of playing being told if i continued playing the way i did i would be slated by the critics...so i left music colege...and gave it up for 25 years only returning to the guitar a few years ago and finding the same people having nothing to do with me or my existence. As you say it is not music these people are interested in it is social status and financial reward, snobbery call it waht you want. I will say however i have made huge inroads and have a huge following abroad and on social media now and my music (playing it my way) is respected worldwide. I realy appreciate your kind words and support and find the people in this great community brilliant. Thanks so much wevard:)
