I just received Isaac's latest disc, "Canciones a mi Madre" Isaac teaches at Texas A&M University, and is a member of the Texas Guitar Quartet. It's a collection of pieces his mother grew to love and encourage him to play as he was progressing in his career. There is nothing earth-shaking here, no new pieces or undiscovered gems. You probably have several recordings of most of the pieces--some Barrios, the Merlin Suite, Cardoso's Milonga, etc.. It is simply a beautifully played, well recorded collection of some old favorites.
I first heard Isaac play in Seattle a number of years ago. I was immediately taken by his playing. His expression of the music simply struck a chord with me. Like I said, there's nothing new here, but sometimes, something old done really well can be very refreshing.
