I see. What model Neumanns do you use and recommend?
I have KM 184's and cannot recommend them highly enough, fantastic sound for classical guitar. They are often available on the auction site. But I got one of mine at Guitar Center which has a recording section, both were used. One is a bit beat up, but they both work great. Also recommend Focusrite for digital interface.

Zoom Q8? Cost is about $350. I have not used one and am also looking for something, although not in a hurry.
Thank you! It has phantom power/XLR inputs for my two Neumann's, exactly what I was looking for, I hope the audio is clean. I think I will give it a try.
Hello Charles,

Any opinion on the Zoom Q8? Some people said the video performance was poor. What do you think? How does it work with your Neumann? Are they a matched pair? Which model? How much are those things? :-)
Here some of my vids, made with Zoom Q8.

Great work! Thank you for sharing...
Got a couple questions, may PM you if its not worth everyone reading, but first off: I have the same mics and camera now, just using those three pieces of gear at the moment. Do you disable the on board mic completely? No reason to use it, right? If so, do you just physically remove it from the camera?

Thank you

Similar question: can you use the internal mics and an external mic simultaneously? Separate tracks?
All this time I thought I was making music; it was making me.

Yes and yes...I am experimenting now. The on board (aka internal) mic is nowhere near as good as the two Neumanns plugged in, that's a no-brainer. Plus, if you are in a boring dead space, I don't think there would be anything to be added by the on-board mic. When I go off to a room with a nice acoustic, I suspect that would be a different story. But you can do whatever you like.

Other very cool added attraction: you can simultaneously create an audio track with the video, as in two separate files. I love that, as you can edit the audio elsewhere easily without having to remove it from the video, then stick it back easily.

This came out ok...still trying to figure out how to get rid of the wide angle:

I love the sound quality, the piece and your playing. Regarding changing the wide angle, see the bottom of page 6 here.

Edit: Oh wait, I just realized you're talking about the Q8. Sorry.

You might try doing a search using the terms "fish eye," rather than getting rid of "wide angle." I think you might find the answer how to get rid of it.
