AER Classic Pro or Hughes Kettner ERA 1...?

Post by FurchMan » Sun Oct 14, 2018 11:12 am

Hello All,

I'm looking to buy a good quality amp, primarily for use with my nylon stringed guitar (Furch GN4 with LR Baggs Anthem), but it would be great if I could use it for steel-stringed acoustics, too. I've been looking around at a number of brands - AER, Schertler etc - and have narrowed my selection down to the AER Classic Pro and Hughes & Kettner Era 1.

Has anyone had expereince of both of these models? If so I'd be interested to know if you have a favourite and why. Also this model of AER is aimed specifically at nylon stringed players, but I can't find any comment to say whether it's suitable for acoustics as well. Not a problem with the H&K as it has discrete settings for nylon and steel.

In terms of the amp's use I'm not a professional musician, just a bedroom guitarist.

Thanks.
