Hello from Yale

Hello from Yale

Hey everyone! My name is Chris, and I am a classical guitarist getting my Masters degree at Yale University with Benjamin Verdery. I started with Suzuki guitar when I was 5 years old and played mostly as a hobby until high school, at which point I decided I wanted to study music in college. I was fortunate enough to get into USC and studied primarily with Bill Kanengiser. I do a good amount of teaching in the Connecticut area and work with students of all ages and levels. I've found the forums on Delcamp very useful in the past and figured it was about time I registered and joined in the discussion! Looking forward to contributing!

Welcome to Delcamp, Chris!

If you haven't already, please take a moment to read this page for a good rundown on how the forum works, rules, history, etc. You have found a great source of classical guitar knowledge, as we have a wide assortment of members, from beginners to performing artists, with a number of fine teachers, historians, and luthiers too. So feel free to ask any questions you might have, but consider using the search function first, as many topics have already been discussed at length.

If you participate in other online forums, you might notice that things can get pretty heated at times. Delcamp takes great strides to avoid that. Here is what Mssr. Delcamp himself has to offer on that.

It is important to note that there is a requirement to post an average of once a month. Members not meeting this standard may have their memberships terminated.

Adding your location to your profile is a nice touch. Many of us have made new friends from doing just that.

Again, welcome to the forum!

Hi Chris,

Say Hello to Ben for me.
We hosted him at Monmouth (Then Monmouth College) in the 80's.
I believe Chris Parkening was the feature performer that night.
Ben offered a Master Class, which a great many of us were unprepared for,,,,,,,, technique wise.
Seeing all the long hair in the room he opted to present his arrangement of Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix, the same arrangement I play today, be it on electric or a classical. What a great guy and a wonderful instructor!!!

Welcome to the forum!
I am new here too!

Coffee Roasting is like classical guitar, part technique, part art.
Without both the end result works, but never reaches what it could be.
