Greetings from Alabama, USA

Post by akwillmon » Sun Mar 05, 2017 2:53 pm

My name is Aaron and I am definitely an amateur classical guitarist. I switched to classical from blues when I was 20 and in college. I was never a music major but I kept playing ever since. I have recently started playing small restaurant gigs and open mics for the performance practice to get over the nerves. I live in a rural area with a small music scene and I am definitely the only one in my area who is trying to play this music. I have a lot of support but I am definitively the oddball! I love to play Spanish and South American pieces from Albeniz, Villa Lobos, Barrios, and Lauro to name a few and of course I love Bach.

Although I can read music, I cannot sight read new pieces. I learned guitar first from tab and have never been able to quit cold turkey. If I do not have the tab for a piece I will take the score and create the tab myself.

I am not interested in being a full time musician, but I do love the guitar and the music and want to be the best I can be.
