Hello from Brownsville, Texas!

Post by mscman45 » Sun Nov 05, 2017 12:29 pm

Hello everyone!

I just found out about this site the other day when I was doing an Internet search for additional pieces of music for our annual fall guitar ensemble Christmas concert. I look forward to hearing from other guitarists and music enthusiasts from around the world!

I am a few years past 50 :D and have been playing the classical guitar all my life. I first obtained a bachelors degree in guitar performance, then a masters degree in guitar performance, and currently I am employed full-time in a school district in the southernmost part of the Rio Grande Valley.
We have six high schools in our school district each of which has a full-time classical guitar instructor. Student involvement in the guitar is fantastic and while the emphasis is on classical guitar, instruction in other styles is offered as well.

The weather is mild in the winter and very hot in the summer but it's a beautiful place to live. We are a top destination in the winter for 'Winter Texans' who start arriving in October and November to escape the winter cold in other states such as Canada, Montana, Minnesota, and other places North of Texas.

I hope everyone is having a great winter!
