Greetings from Los Angeles

Post by CrisJoaquim » Fri Jan 05, 2018 6:14 pm

Hello everyone, my name is Cris and I'm a classical/flamenco guitar player for Los Angeles. I've been playing for about 9 years now and currently go to college for guitar performance. Initially got into guitar because a new music school opened near my area and I went there, initially wanting to shred on electric guitar and play metal, but the more I played on a nylon string guitar and played classical repertoire the more I felt that it was the instrument for me.

I enjoy composing so I do play electric guitar a bit just for the different tone, however I try to compose pieces on classical guitar as well, some that I can hopefully share here when they are finished.

I learned how to play mainly through my guitar classes in HS as well as youtube videos and books, I never had a private teacher nor could afford one so I used all the resources that I possibly could through trial and error, and now I feel that I can play any piece with a bit of practice. I've also began to teach voluntarily as I feel I have a strength in that as well.

I have quite an interest in flamenco and enjoy performing flamenco pieces as well, although I enjoy any style of music.

Overall, I really enjoy performing and composing and hope to gain a bit of knowledge from everybody while I'm here.

Thank you,
