Loving Latin music here on Vancouver Island B.C.

Post by Tony Robinson » Thu Feb 08, 2018 6:30 am

Started out with easy blues,...then folky finger picking yet in the last year or so I have trended away from Santana, BB King, Paul Simon, JJ Cale then through Chet Atkins, Doc Watson , Jerry Reed and now into Latino having discovered Manu Chao on You Tube. Their groove is interesting and songs like Clandestino and MeLllaman Calle are easy enough to get into Rhumba type rythms. In the last few months I have been absorbing Latin classics on You Tube....Spanish Guitar [1], for example;.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwlOPnc5VSY

There are several [ often with photos of a fine horse].. These play while I do other work on the computer and then of course I try to copy some of them. Getting a few but it's not easy. Have always played on my own...learning the S l o w way.

Have a few guitars including a basic Alhambra... good tone, but mostly it is the Yamaha APX-6NA that is preferred. Keeping an eye out for a used Lapatrie and or Cordoba C5-CE in the future. I enjoyed reading posts and advice about strings here so that is why I decided to join your interesting , friendly well informed group. There is so much to learn. Sure love all that Latino music. Hi Tony. Welcome. I love your island. Haven't been there for about 10 years. I would live there if I could, but I don't think Canada wants me as I would be a drain on the healthcare system. You are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place.
