US $.4200 Peter Oberg 640mm cedar 2006, Baton Rouge LA

2006 Peter Oberg
640mm scale
Cedar top
Indian rosewood back & sides; sound ports
Ebony fingerboard and head plate. Head is stipple-carved
French polish by Yuris Zeltins
Tuners: Baljak w/ebony inserts & knobs
Calton case
$4200 plus shipping

Beautiful guitar by Peter Oberg. I heard others compare the sound to Robert Ruck with whom Peter worked for a time. I'd call it powerful, warm, easy to play, colorful. There is a small dot at the 7th fret. I couldn't resist and changed the tuners out for a set of Baljak...I think they look beautiful on this guitar. The Calton case is aftermarket as well. The ID plate on the case calls the model "Gregory Byers", but this guitar fits as perfectly as you could wish. Peter had a surfing accident when it was time to finish this guitar so he farmed it out to the great Yuris Zeltins. As for condition, there are assorted marks, a bit of the typical dulling at the arm contact point, but the overall look is excellent. This is 'jump on it' price...

So...jump!

Here's an older pic that shows the head carving. Those are the old tuners.

This is the bracing scheme used on this guitar.

Beautiful guitar indeed. Any chance on an audio sample of her?

I just broke two nails but perhaps in a week. Also bear in mind I'm selling because my playing has slid into the crapper over the past 10 years...I'm just keeping my two "lesser" guitars because they're good enough and one is particularly easy to play. So, yeah, that's a caveat.

Sorry to hear that. I know the feeling - being a carpenter and not getting enough practice time in.
Your attachment of the bracing didn't show up for me. Is it lattice? Fan?

Are you offering returns?

It's 7 fans but with 3 cross braces. Kind of a semi-lattice fan bracing scheme. If you look on obergguitars under gallery, then under shop you'll see it.

Aha, an older recording at an open mic. I guess it's a fair representation despite the numerous clams.

"At The Cradle" Edvard Grieg, arranged by Richard Yates. It is both melancholy and hopeful. A favorite bit of music with much meaning to me.

Fine looking instrument you’ve got there!
The time between the notes relates the color to the scenes.

I missed your question about returns. Sure, I'll offer a trial period. I've always thought the 3-5 day trial too short. 10 days seems more like it...a chance for a string change. So, my just-now-formulated return policy: Full refund upon return within 10 days, pending inspection for damage. Buyer pays shipping cost.
