Teacher recommendations in Massachusetts?

Post by ghostwind » Thu Dec 14, 2017 11:20 pm

Hi all! I'm a 44 year old looking to re-learn classical guitar (and some other musical genres) after a 25 year break. I had played when young, but then moved on to piano. Now I want to get back to it, and looking for an experienced teacher that teaches classical as well as some other genres. I live in the Greater Boston area, so looking for any good recommendations forum members may have. Thanks!

Hi,
I highly recommend Louis Arnold. He's based in Lunenburg, MA, but teaches at the Minor Chord in Acton, MA.
I took lessons from him for 5 years many years ago, and am hoping to hook back up with him when I can swing it.
He was affiliated at that time with the New England Conservatory, and he's a graduate of the Longy School of Music.
Great guy, and a very open-minded, well rounded musician who also excels in many other genres.
His contact info here:

Best regards,
Andre

I think our own Kevin Collins teaches in Mass.

Yes, but he is a two hour drive from Boston. :-/

You might look up Berit Strong. She lives just outside of Boston. She lives in Maynard.

I too strongly recommend Lou Arnold if either the Minor Chord in Littleton or his home in Lunenburg isn't too far to travel for you. His lessons greatly improved my technique and mechanics and broadened my musical awareness and interests. He is a great person and an excellent teacher.
