On a diet, my hunger is diminishing after a few weeks

Talk about things that are not necessarily related to music or the guitar.

Did you get a chance to research simple/complex sugars...I guarantee you'll lose weight. Your body has no choice but to burn complex carbohydrates first if you are not eating simple sugars. Google it.

For what it's worth, every time I mention Google, I'm reminded of my teaching days in the 70's way before computers. Do you know the true story behind the word google? In France during the 15th century, or way back, the king asked his finance minister to come up with a name for the highest number...at the time the highest number is/was 79 to the tenth power-I think. Anyway, the finance minister went home and was very worried because if he didn't come up with an acceptable name, he could lose his head. So... his young baby was very restless and the minister picked him up and started walking back and forth with him to settle the him down. He was talking out loud and told the baby his problem and the baby actually said go og le. The word google is just baby talk and has absolutely no meaning (this is the truth) and the next day the minister said the word to the King and the king accepted it. You probably already knew google is the name for the highest named number. But if you didn't...you can always Google it.
Thanks! I did always notice that when I gave up sweets (or really cut back) I start dropping weight fast! But I usually also cut back on total calories too.
I've been doing some research on good ways to fall asleep and sleep soundly and found something that might help you reach your weight goals. It's called: Milk Thistle. There are many brands to choose from and various types, but they say it also helps to lose weight and keep your blood sugar stable. It's originally used to clean the liver...if you get time, check it out. Amazon has many different types and tons of info. on it.

Finally! After hovering around 196 or so since October, I weighed in today at 193.2 :)
The rope skipping is a big help.

I’m jealous of 193. I was 205 at gym this morning (I’m 5’10”). Would love to see low 190s again. I even skipped rope today and it didn’t kill me.

NOT going to the gym is what is going to kill me..lol.

I wish I was 5-10. The rope skipping is great. I skip 30 then rest, 30 then rest, etc. for a total of 300 skips. I will gradually build up to more. You can do it. :)

I've been hovering at 168 LB for months. I want to lose at least 8 LB. At least I'm stable after quitting sugar.
Otoh, I have more than the usual muscle for a thin-boned person (height 167), so my BMI will always be high.

I started my weight loss quest in July 2017 when I weighed 270lbs. As of yesterday, I've lost 38 lbs. I've been stuck in that area since mid December. The good news is that I didn't put on any weight during the holidays. YAY! Losing weight in the winter is really tough.

BP is way down, lost 5 inches around my waist and I'm not sure how much in my chest.

My weight loss is a direct result of walking 5-6 miles every day and modifying my diet to eliminate or reduce sugar and carbs. My hunger pangs have subsided quite a bit... Snacking on watermelon, cantaloupe chunks and small carrots has helped ease them.

My current goal is to get down to 220-225 lbs. Which would be what I weighed when I got married 32 years ago and within 10lbs of what I weighed when I got out of the U.S. Navy.

BMI is a 2D measurement of a 3D system. Like many other "scientific measurements" it is an easy to measure but as to how meaningful it is, given that different cultures/environments/genetics have different body shapes, is a different container of piscine objects. Easy measurements maybe are more related to easy profit than anything else. :-)

Good way to put it.

It should perhaps be weight over height cubed, rather than height squared, but they must have a reason for not doing that.

i use a hygrometer to measure my BMI. That way I lose weight when the relative humidity goes down.

But honestly I admire everyone who's losing weight here and applaud them. This is serious stuff and hard to do.

I'm not so cynical as to think that BMI is a corporate lie designed to boost profits however. Just because a single measurement doesn't precisely address every possible variation doesn't mean that it's useless and a sham. You do know that the value of pi never resolves? I know...corporate sham to bleed money from the public.
