Are you Mad at Windows 10 download speed

Talk about things that are not necessarily related to music or the guitar.

I’m resigned to having both pc and Mac.
I find I’m proficient at neither.

If one steals MacOS to run on non-Mac HW, I doubt very much that Apple would "byte" one. The "byte" will be the amount if time one spends in trying to get it to work, messing with drivers, etc. On the whole, depending on what one's time is worth, may be a lot cheaper to buy a Mac and be done with it. On the whole, I'd personally rather practice guitar (or hang out here) than mess with trying to get computing devices to function correctly. :D

Not really...it's cheaper to buy a laptop with OEM compatible gear and swap out wifi cards...then modify the kexts to work. It can work, it does work, but nobody wants to admit a 4 year old laptop can run Mac OS as good as a new 2k laptop :)

No desire here to monkey with Kexts. Had enough of that writing device drivers for SCSI Cards in the early days of Linux. I try to keep my interactions with computers to a minimum. Given that that minimum is usually of the order of 10-11 hours a day due to the need to earn a living, there is no desire to mess with computing outside of that bare necessity. Very happy to write a cheque for hardware+software that "just works" (and when it doesn't, it's Apple's problem!)

Another vote for Linux from me.
I solved all my Windows problems some years ago by installing Slackware. Since then I've tried at least a dozen distros (Mint, Fedora, SUSE, Ubuntu, etc), and have been using Kubuntu for a couple of years now.
The system updates when I want it to...

I haven't noticed any slowwr download speds with my win10 Surface laptop,The big complaint for me with this OS is the lack of any real file systemem managrment app.
