And today, homemade couscous! Vegetables (carrots, zucchini, onions, celery, turnips, peppers, tomato), spices: turmeric, ras-el-hanout, clove, harissa (hot pepper) ..

With meatballs, chicken, and merguez.

For dessert: natural fresh pineapple.

I just finished breakfast. .....what I call, "my mess." I first sautéed chopped pepper, onion, mushroom & tomato. I cracked three eggs over the top of the veggies, and turned the heat down to simmer.....just let the eggs sit on top of them. I chopped up two patties of leftover veggie sausage and spread that over the eggs, and topped it with crumbled feta. I let it simmer about five minutes......working a spatula under it and sliding it around in the pan to keep it from sticking. Then I slid it out of the pan and flipped it bottom up in a plate, and let it sit about a minute before I ate it. I usually have a slice of rye toast with "my mess," but I skipped it this morning.

quite a wide range today, sushi for lunch, Sauerkraut and Alsacian saussage with a bottle of Riesling to share with my wife in the evening.

King cake! I have a friend/business associate from New Orleans who sends me a King cake every year. This time she even included some "Mardi Gras King Cake" coffee, with a hint of cinnamon & vanilla. As I understand, King cake is a per-Lenten tradition associated with Margi Gras. My wife found baby Jesus in the very first slice! I am type 2 diabetic, so I don't need cake, but once in a while you just have to indulge in some things! .....I'll walk a little extra this afternoon. :D

It will definitely be a trip to the Chinese takeaway in a minute, but I don't know what I'll eat yet.
The most common thing for me to order is Singapore Vermicelli and Honey Chicken.

Well, that was interesting - the Chinese place has been shut every Monday since the start of November, and I didn't know!
So instead I'm eating pumpkin and potato curry, saag bhaji and pilau rice.

Tuesday is market day in the European Quarter. I try not to miss it. Most of all for the excellent fishmonger. The quality and freshness of his fisch and fruits de mèr is unmatched in Brussels. Tonight I have invited close friends for dinner. We'll have cod with vongole, Mediterranean style with garlic, parsley and a sip of white wine. Very quick and easy recipe. Together with a bottle of the wonderful Chablis Patrick Piuze produces.

Pork rouelle, with onions, carrots, turnips, potatoes and cloves.
For dessert: yoghurt cake with red fruits and custard.
It's for my birthday!
So a good bottle of wine and water.
