it's a biography but not written as a traditional biography style as I know.

Edward Berlin's biography on Scott Joplin, and his survey of ragtime. Interesting to read that the piano rags that are the most famous part of the literature were in practice a pretty small subset of a much larger genre.

Just finished the Elaine Sisman monograph and Haydn and variation form and largely through the Matthew Riley book.

Just red Jaron Laniers' 'Ten Arguments for Deleting Your Social Media Accounts Right Now'. Very convincing arguments IMHO as far as FB and similar enterprises go.
Music is a big continent with different landscapes and corners. Some of them I do visit frequently, some from time to time and some I know from hearsay only ...
