What sheet music did you buy last and why?

Talk about things that are not necessarily related to music or the guitar.

I have ordered Giorgio Signorile's pieces for solo guitar at utorpheus. Giorgio kindly offered "Summer Souvenir" as a free pdf in this forum and I love playing it. Then I bought the CD Riflessi, and was hooked. Though I am looking forward to playing all the (many) pieces I ordered, I am particularly thrilled to start on "Ninna nanna a Donegal" and "Terra e cielo". The latter does sound a bit of a challenge...

I just got a collection of Gloria Estefan. It's fun to play.

That’s a nice pic of you serving your country. God bless you David. By he way, is there a guitar stashed in the copter somewhere?
Thanks Scott...I hesitated posting the picture because of what it represents, war and underlying extreme violence, but it's all past me now. It was a nice break at the time.

Wife is doing much better but still recovering...with my help of course.

I tried to take my guitar once but had to leave at base camp...wanted to practice while waiting for orders...seems like all we did was wait.

Good hearing from you.
Best,
David

Difficult to tell if that's irony. I have an uncle who was a Royal Marine in Burma in the 50s. He came back with a terrible skin disease - he was wrapped up like a mummy for 3 months in Haslar hospital - but he went back out again as soon as he was over it. Loved the place. It made a nice change from Portsmouth!

I bought the World's Favorite Solos for Classic Guitar No. 43 in 2017; it was a reprinted from the original in 1966 of Ashley Publications. My No 43 was an old book - the 1966 edition - and worn out after my friends borrowing it; so every time I opened it, my memories came back. I bought the new one without knowing that I would re-practice the songs inside it again or not; I bought it for my collection only and did not want to open my old No 43 after not having open it for nearly 38 years; just kept it as-is with the old memories.

Demillac's "Vue Sur Mer" collection and Mompou's "Cancion Y Danza". Ordered from SBM with their latest 24-hour discount and saved a whopping $2.85! I think I can finally retire now! Probably have no hope of playing the Mompou piece but I really do like it.

"Mel Bay presents The Christmas Book" - carols arranged for acoustic guitar.

Not because I want to play carols, you understand; I'm in concert locally in December and the organisers asked if I'd play something seasonal.
That is actually a really great book! I think that Jesu is at the back. When I was playing steadily I was almost through that one!

David Nadal's Guitar Classics, on the recommendation of Kevin Gallagher's YouTube video instruction It's a nice collection including both things I can play and pieces I can aspire to. There is something very cool about playing Alfonso X's Two Cantigas de Santa Maria, music penned between 1221 and 1284.

Last month I bought Schubert Sonata in A minor "Arpeggione" arranged for Guitar and Clarinet.
Why? - Because my friend who plays the clarinet thought it would be nice for us to learn to play it as a long term project.

Is that an advanced piece, or what's the grade level?

Thanks,

O'Carolan Favorites for Classical Guitar.

I once owned a folk harp and loved O'Carolan music. I was thrilled to see that Mel Bay had a book of arrangements for Guitar. It might take me a while to get up to "speed" on them, but it'll be worth it.

ABRSM violin grade 5 exam pieces. Because getting to grade 6 isn't much of a problem, and I wanted to go through the early grades listing what technicalities were required at each grade.
