Getting strings from abroad

Post by Utku Demir » Thu Jan 25, 2018 10:18 pm

Hi everyone,
I decided to buy a classical guitar string set from Strings by Mail because there are many options on this website.
I live in Turkey and I cannot find these various strings in Turkey.
Do you know anything about shipping issues? Can the employee's of website transmit the strings?

Utku

Hi Uktu

I don’t understand your second question.

I buy almost all my strings from Strings By Mail and their service is exceptional, among the very best of all online stores (of any type). I am sure you will be very satisfied if you order through them.

I also think they would be the most commonly recommended string supplier on this site by far, possibly followed by SchneiderMusik in Germany with the next most recommendations.

Regards
Peter

I think by transmit he means 'send' or 'mail'. Sounds to me like he wants to make sure there won't be any issues sending the strings overseas to Turkey, or just verifying that SBM does send them overseas.

I once got strings from a broad. She was very helpful.

You can call them and they will give you a shipping quote. I live in USA, and the shipping is always right around $4.00 to the lower 48 states. Strings by Mail is in Michigan, USA. But, Petermc61 gets them delivered to Austrailia. The idea is to buy lots of strings to save on additional shipping later.

To get a shipping quote go on to the website and add some strings to an order. If you try different numbers if string sets you will see the point at which the shipping cost increases. Then take one set of strings off the order and you will get the lowest cost per set for the order. If you buy say 10 sets the shipping costs are not so high and they will probably be cheaper than any local supplier given their prices are well discounted in the first place.

You can play with different orders and get exact quotes without actually purchasing anything up to the point where you enter credit card details.

I apologize. I made a little joke. The word "broad" is slang for a woman. "Abroad" means in foreign countries.

Thanks for all information. I will sent an e-mail to the website and ask about it. As Laudiesdad69 and petermc61 mentioned, I will buy at least 10 sets of strings.

SBM really saves me money, even with the shipping. For example, my local mom and pop has the Savarez 520R set for $14.00, SBM has them for $9.99. You just have to order a few sets.

Amazon has the EJ45LP's for $20.90, SBM has them for $15.95. I'm finding Amazon is NOT the place to buy strings.

Amen to that Ameriken. And, SBM gives USA veterans and active duty military a 10% discount so I save even more. It is amazing how many veterans on the forum don’t know about this discount still. Perhaps I should post another thread on the subject? I posted a thread on that before and it didn’t go anyplace.

I didn't know that LD. How do I go about getting the discount? I did four in the Corps.

Perhaps another thread wouldn't be a bad idea.

Call up Matt at SBM. You need to send them proof of your service such as a photo of your Military ID, VA card, or even a copy of your DD 214. After talking to Matt, I took a photo of my VA card, attatched it to a text message and sent it to SBM at the number they gave me. Actually I think mat texted me and I attached it to the message and sent it right back to him. Anyway it was really easy.

I think that I should make another post about the discount.
