Certainly worth hearing - it's really nicely played.

Seriously though, congratulations Matthew on the new album and looking forward to hearing it. Anyone know if Zappa has appeared on any other classical guitar album or has Matthew bagged a first?

As you are so open about life as a pro I hope you don't mind me asking a couple of questions. Did you record each piece in a single take or are they edited together?

And are there any other pieces that almost made it onto the album but didn't make the final cut for whatever reason?

Cheers.
The system Uros and I use to record is I will play the piece through in it's entirety roughly 4/5 times, then we choose a full take from those and use that as a base, from there we can edit anything that is problematic using the other takes.

This way I am always well prepared for the sessions and fingers crossed never make the same mistake in the same place over 4/5 takes. We also like to edit after each piece or series of pieces by a particular composer this way my interpretation is foremost in our minds when doing any edits.

So it is not the stop start micro editing way of working that is unfortunately common place these days and often gives a false impression of the player and a very sterile/clinical recording.

Everything we recorded made it to the album.

The first interview and radio-play for the album come courtesy of the BBC.

'John Toal eases listeners into the afternoon with a mix of popular classical music, news, reviews and interviews with local and touring performers.'

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09j4h9x

1:29:30 into the show is where the interview starts and then you get the chance to hear the first movement of the Glass Quartet after the interview.

Also featured at the start of the programme 06:05 is the final movement of Bach's 1034 Flute Sonata arranged for guitar and flute with my wife Aisling on flute.

Hope you enjoy the show, interview and music and the album is still on discounted price for a few more days at: http://barosrecords.com/americancollection

"One of my favourite players, Mathew McAllister’s playing ranges from exquisitely beautiful to exciting and virtuosic. This album has an impressive mix of repertoire showcasing some of the diversity of the American scene of the Twentieth Century."

First review is in for American Collection and it is a good one and from a website that is a gem for the Classical Guitar!

Spotify admits the average "per stream" payout to rights holders lands somewhere between $0.006 and $0.0084 so I doubt it! That is not the motivation though so who cares! Just delighted that people are enjoying the music.
