New book - How to Compose for the Classical Guitar

Post by Adrian Allan » Sat Sep 22, 2018 9:33 pm

Finally, after probably a few hundred hours, I have finished this book...although there may possibly be revisions in due course.
181 pages, over 50 musical examples and over 20,000 words. This is also a personal mission to get more people to compose for the guitar.

Are you offering autographed copies?
I truly hope this effort will lead to more compositions for our instrument.

Haha

Not really...as it gets sent out from Lulu, so I don't get to touch each copy.

I am also offering a PDF download and I am working on a Kindle edition with embeded music clips.

This forum gets a credit in the intro...when I didn't know something, one of you good people pointed me in the right direction.

Thank you

It can't possibly cover every single aspect of writing for the classical guitar, but I hope that it gives musicians a firm start who would never have considered doing so.

There is also a PDF version available for £8 if anybody is interested, and access to the music files for each chapter. Pm me if you want it, but obviously most people here are guitarists, and the book is primarily aimed at musicians who want to learn how the guitar works.

Just wondering if you have posted this on other instrument forums (piano, for example). Composers for other instruments may be interested in this.

Thanks for all the recent comments - sorry, I was away from this forum for a while

To address the above question, I have mainly concentrated on composers' forums on Facebook, where I have shared a link to this book.

The book is now available on the main site for book selling in the world, named after the river that runs through Brazil.
