Bataille, G. - Est-ce Mars - Renaissance Guitar Video

Post by kidneykutter » Wed Oct 31, 2018 12:29 am

The song "Est-ce Mars" has several famous arrangements including organ variations by Sweelinck, lute solos by Vallet and Guedron and arranged for 4 lutes by Vallet. Here it is for Renaissance Guitar arranged by G. Bataille (c 1640). Performed by Daniel Shoskes on a 4 course Renaissance guitar

Very nice :)
I'd noticed this rather striking tune in the ML Lute Book as 'French Tune ?Guedron', so I'm pleased to find out its title - and your version has a nice set of divisions as well!

...and it occurs to me that Giles Farnaby's harpsichord piece The New Sahoo is the same tune.

Sorry, can't figure out how to edit a post title. The composer is actually Bataille.
