Paul Galbraith plays Couperin

Post by John Oster » Wed Apr 04, 2018 9:13 pm

What a lovely piece. I'd like to find a good 6-string arrangement. This piece was originally recorded for one of Paul's CDs, but it was omitted. The audio track can be downloaded from Delos for $1.99 to $2.49 depending on resolution.

If, like me, you find this video is unavailable try Spotify. I found the track there. Very nice, as you say :)

Is that because you are in the UK? It happens frequently to us US residents!

The video is not available for me, either, here in Canada. Perhaps there are certain copyright/licensing issues as to where some u-tube videos are permitted to be shown, because this does, indeed, happen periodically.

Couperin is a blocker. Thankfully the YouTube engineering team has found a way, 300 years after his death, to connect the record industry to his ghost and ask whether he’s okay with the whole situation. Despite being covered in gallons of ectoplasm the team of millennial Stanford-drop-out comp sci majors was able to get a blockchain-verified “negatory” from Couperin’s ghost. Dollars will covert to entherium and, further, to ether.

Eric, I'm enjoying your transcription of Dowland's "Lacrimae Pavan." Have you considered transcribing Couperin's Pavan? :D

I do hope someone else is able to enjoy Paul's performance. (It's just the audio with a fixed image, not an actual video of him playing it.)

I’d consider it if I had a copy of the original!

Edit: Found it! The sheet music for Louis Couperin's Bauyn MS pieces is freely available on IMSLP. I'll have a look at it shortly.
