All I can say is WOW! Love this gorgeous serenade/melody by Elgar - I originally heard it beautifully played in the key of E by John Williams as an overdubbed duet on his 1986 Echoes Of London album.
Never thought it could work well as a solo till now - Xuefei's arrangement in D is AMAZING and the way she plays it is even MORE AMAZING - the phrasing of the melody, the drama - she makes it look easy at the rather brisk tempo (there's some crazy stretches in there!), it’s NOT. Her guitar sounds so clear, lush, and powerful too with very tasteful vibrato and rubato. Love it also when she plays the melody so expressively on the bass strings so cello-like. RESPECT!!!
