11 year old German phenom, Leonora Spangenberger

This is one of the Sicca guitars, a German guitar retailer, videos that I stumbled upon on Youtube this evening. Quite good at only eleven years old:

There's another video of her that's equally amazing, maybe even more so!

Search YT for "Leonora Spangenberger (11) plays Drei Tentos - I by Hans Werner Henze on a 2004 Curt Claus Voigt".

Inhuman left hand stretches, lots of passages in the "nosebleed section" (above the 12th fret), and other effects. How can she understand such a sophisticated piece so well?

 No kidding! Just to play the notes so commandingly is one thing, but to make such wonderful music that eludes many adults in that piece is just amazing. That's a pretty sweet sounding guitar by Curt Claus Voigt, too.

Wow!! I've just listened to her two Bach videos. I hear what sounds like an almost intuitive respect for "note value", resulting in a seamless line that flows through in all her phrasing.

If she were to go on and make a career out of CG, I feel her gently expressive playing and assured command of the instrument would be very well received by audiences.

OK. Now I know why I do my day job.
I liked the opera very much. Everything but the music.

:casque: Beautiful. :applauso:
Sigh. I hope she keeps playing for many more years and that she keeps getting good teachers so she doesn't hurt herself.
