Giuliani's left hand studies

Post by Jon Griffiths » Mon May 01, 2017 5:36 pm

I do the right hand studies and have them in my every day rutine. I am wondering if learning the left had studies and putting them in my rutine , or would time be better spent in other places.

Right hand and left hand should get equal time. Same as weight lifting . Never work one set of muscles more.

You may consider Vladimir Bobri 130 right hand study which is good for Left Hand as well.

Some of the Giuliani left-hand studies are featured prominently in "Pumping Nylon" and, thus, have been the focus of some of my attention. I'm currently working on #1, but plan to continue through #2, and the others.

I like to do exercises myself but my best-ever-student, a pro musician now, told me when I suggested some techniquepractice: "There's a lot technique in playing music" and there is! If you're playing exercises you might be focusing only on the fingers and not on important musical goals and how to overcome obstacles to play it the way you want.
