Carulli, Ferdinando - op.325 La Clochette [FAC]

Post by Juergen Schenk » Tue Feb 13, 2018 2:40 pm

Carullis Fantasia on the famous theme from Paganini "La Campanella".

I removed some obvious misprints. If you like, you may compare to the original source here:

As often with Carulli, the work seems easy to play at the first glance. But if you try to play the fast passages in tempo, it is more challenging - a whiff of Paganini

Hi Jürgen, thanks for posting. Yeah, Carulli is often underestimated.

This is a cool piece! I've run across the original at some point before but didn't think much of it... you inspired me to listen to the one rendition I could find on YouTube, and I like it.
The original had too few measures per stanza, yours reads much nicer! I will be using it in the near future for sure!
Perhaps it will become a video with one of my period guitars, even.
Thank you for posting.

Hello Michael and powderedtoastman,
thank you fo your feedback. I agree with Michael, Carulli is often underestimated, perhaps because he is mostly known for his instructional pieces. Many of his concert and particularly chamber music works are of high quality relating to craftmanship and inspiration.
Best wishes
Juergen
