This guitar was made by Robert England in 2012 on commission for me. I know Robert personally and have played most of the guitars he has made so far. I have yet to play one that I would not buy myself. I also have a 1966 Jose Ramirez model guitar made by Robert and have decided to sell this one. This will be a great buy for somebody who has moved past factory guitars, is aware of the issues they usually have, and is looking to get a hand-made guitar at a very reasonable price.
Here are some videos recorded with this guitar (the first video is played and recorded professionally while the rest are my home recordings):
This guitar is a 1912 Manuel Ramirez model, so its sound has great clarity and projection all the way up and down the fingerboard. The body resonance of the guitar is somewhere around G#. The Cypress back and sides contribute to a very nice glow in the sound of the trebles coupled with exceptional sound separation and clarity. The internal construction of the guitar is a 7-brace fan similar to that of a Torres and its sound is also similar to that of guitars from that era.
The guitar is in excellent condition. The top and neck are French polished, while the back and sides are finished with permanent lacquer to prevent wear from playing and sweating. The top has a few minor marks on it but no notable dings.
The action setup makes it easy to play (it has a comfortable classical setup of about 4 mm on the bass side and about 3 mm on the treble side at the 12-th fret). There is no buzzing and no playability issues anywhere along the neck. The frets are in great shape. The neck is straight and there is a lot of room on the saddle to go lower with the action if needed.
The strings on the guitar are D’Addario EJ45 – they sound better on the guitar that any others I’ve tried. These normal tension nylon strings allow the guitar to shine as opposed to coloring the sound to change it and make it sound in a specific way.
I will only accept PayPal for payment. I will ship to Canada and the Continental United States. The guitar will be shipped in a used hard shell case well packed with strings loosened.
I have bought and sold a long list of classical guitars over the years, so buy with confidence.
