Not sure if you are still looking for recommendations.

The ruby nail file as mentioned above is a great file, but a standard glass/diamond file is more than sufficient.

I also recommend their nail kit that includes the glass nail file along with the micro-mesh. I have been using those kits for a few years with great results. The Oasis nail shaper is ok, it is good for a quick buff, but mine did not last very long.

Also, I would highly recommend moisturizing your hands regularly, especially after washing your hands or showering. I do this in conjunction with using Burt's Bees Cuticle Cream.

If you are having more serious problems (splitting/chips) I would highly recommend Nailtiques Formula 2. It will strengthen your nails very quickly, but has a gloss finish, which I personally do not like, but it always delivers the results I'm looking for. Particularly useful in the winter months.

I have the NFkit 5 and it has everything that I ever need and the cost for the kit is 19.99, highly recommend it.

A small nail file and some very fine sandpaper (600 grit or P1200) should be all you need. Use a file with "diamond-stone" or corundum instead of an Emory board file or a plain metal file; these others will tear your nails.

For repair, I use several layers of Superglue and Cotton fiber.

cheers!

Isn't 600 grit sandpaper to course ?

I use one of the multi sided nail polish block things
Christopher Parkening recommends 600 grit in his "Guitar Method, Vol.1"

In Christopher Parkening's "Guitar Method Vol.1" he recommends 600 grit.

I tried 'Healthy Hoof' for 3 months every day to no noticeable improvement. I will give Nailtiques a try.
