Extremely good indeed. Congratulations.Once a famous player told in a master class that this piece should not express sadness in the first place but rather anger about the loss. I like this very firm attack and power which expresses exactly that.

That was beautiful in a uniquely memorable way.

I've always loved this piece. To me, Bach's writing in it has an expressive sense that shows a rare connection between the aesthetics of emotional passion and structural discipline. For me, your playing captures that balance perfectly.

RIP, Maria Barbara Bach.

Hi Michael, it was Dejan Ivanovic. I know him well and have assisted on many of his classes. Search on youtube for "Dejan Ivanovic bwv 1002"

Thank you all for your comments and wishes, I'll let you know what happens in the competition on here. It's for all sorts of instruments, here is a link to the post I made about it for more info.

The guitar is an Antonius Mueller workshop model double top, Albert and Mueller label made in 2011.

I listened to Dejan Ivanovic as well Christian, very nice player.

Quick update, just got home after a night out after winning the competition! The prize was £1000 and a full recital in the 2014/2015 season at the Royal Academy of Music, so that's the next thing to start thinking about... No doubt my interpretation of this ridiculous piece will have changed by then! If you fancy listening to the run through of my whole programme which begins with the Legnani Fantasia and Roberto Gerhard Fantasia, and ends with this chaconne, there is a playlist on my channel on youtube, let me know your thoughts.
