A brutal murder was committed yesterday evening. Police have captured the murderer, who has been identified as violinist Vanessa-Mae. She has confessed to committing the dastardly crime. Apparently she had numerous accomplices, tentatively identified as an "orchestra."

The unfortunate victim has been identified as Bach Toccata and Fugue in C Minor. No motive for the crime has yet been established. Numerous witnesses have been taken to the hospital suffering from a variety of illnesses, mostly involving nausea and vomiting.

No harm in appalling travesties if it pays the orchestra well, though playing through gritted teeth might incur a bill at the dentist...

There is now quite a long tradition of rocking up classics; I wonder if anyone has actually become a classical music lover as a result?

I didn't mind her performance although I expect there must have been a serious delay in the pipe organ given how out of time the organ and violin were at the start.

Hearing this reminds me of two things. Firstly, I immediately thought of Sky's rendition of this Toccata and Fugue in Dm released on their Album Sky 2. Secondly this very much reminds me of an LP my parents used to play called Hooked on Classics which I'm pretty sure featured the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Yes, of course D Minor. I had just finished watching the great Passacaglia and Fugue in C Minor. Which, by the way, no-one plays better than E. Power Biggs, who to me was the best organist ever, although I never heard Bach, who was just slightly before my time.

I was aware of her recording when I was growing up, it must have been the first time I heard this piece. Church organ is not particularly present outside the sphere of influence of western christianity. I do remember hearing Bach unaccompanied violin on the radio though, that made a much stronger impression on me. And of course later my teacher gave me the Bouree in E minor

Well I'm sorry, but the music is from the nineties, and there are people who were born in the nineties, not to mention those born later, they make me feel really old

Sorry...I get it now...she was wonderful and killed it (the performance) got to get used to the musical jargon!
