François Laramée guitars

Post by Anerdw » Thu Aug 09, 2018 3:25 am

Hello,
François Laramée is a guitar maker in Quebec and sells kits for the do-it-yourselfers, as well as complete instruments.

If anyone has played our heard any of his finished guitars I would really appreciate hearing what you think of them. It is about a twelve hour drive from my place to his shop so I was thinking of maybe making the trip.

Thanks,
Andrew

If I were from Nova Scotia, I could look up and try a guitar (if possible) from Ned Milburn, who was under the tutelage of Bruce West, whom in turn received training from Edgar Monch.

I heard of François Laramée too, so far not able to try his guitars though.

I am building one of his kits. He has been extremely helpful.

He also has a Facebook page.

Thank you very much for the suggestion - I will drop Mr. Milburn a line. Building a guitar seems like a tremendous project; all the best!

Not just a tremendous project, it can be an inspiring passion for many. I thought this article on a Canadian luthier Jean Larrivée illustrates my point, if you are interested:

I know Ned Milburn quite well, honest as the day is long.

Well, I can now answer my own question since a couple weeks ago I purchased his walnut and spruce model he had for sale. Definitely a huge step up from my Patrie Etude guitar. Gorgeous guitar with much better sound than guitars I had sampled at nearby music stores.

Congrats! You should post some photos and possibly a sound sample?
