La Muerte del Angel (Piazzolla) - how to get velocity on scale

Post by Annalu Braga » Sat Aug 11, 2018 9:14 am

Hi, I´ve been in a hard time about 2 years to get velocity in the fisrt big scale (C major in sixteenth notes) in the begining of that piece ( Baltazar Benitez versio, NOT Leo Browuer).
I changed the digitation of LH and RH, im, ami, pami, apoyando e tirando, and never reached a good articulation neither velocity (as far as I got was about 110 on metronome). Have you similar dificult?

Hi Annalu!
Have you tried to play the scale on different postions on the fretboard?

I play mi, starting the first 3 notes on E string( c,b,a), the next 2 on B string (g,f), and then empty E.
What follows next is just a a-minor scale downwards.

Thank you, Guero. Seems to be easier, how fast do you go? Can I see your digitation at this piece cause I have another doubt at the second part.

Fast enough
You can also stay on the 5th postion for one more string, i.e. until the b on the 3rd beat (9th note) and then the rest of a-minor.
Just what feels more comfortable for you.

Greetings,
I´ll try it. The 2nd part. B(5)... A(3) B(0) C(2) D(2) E(0) F(1) are my digitation but I don´t think is the best decision, Thanks.

I think Annalu means this scale, which is on the third line (8th bar, with a bit from 7th and 9th):

I added the image as it seems it does not violate the rules within paragraph IV for quoting music if it is a short segment.

Guitarrista,
yes, that scale you posted a image and that bar here at this url:
https://flic.kr/p/29YMmnG

Well, there are two diferent bars:
- First, the scale . My fingering is bad cause I do all the notes descending ( from 1st to 6th strings ) in a parallel movement.
- That bar, is shown how I play, but it´n not a easy way to play.

I posted the image because all I see at the flicker site is an image from the beginning of Villa-Lobos's Prelude no.4 (I think), from a Russian book.

Ok, let's see..
Now I'm referring to your flickr image which in my edition is bar 20?!
First of all I'm staying on 2nd string except for the A (3rd string) and the last note, open E.
fingering b-string LH: 1 0 I 1 4 4 I__x I 0 1 4 x
fingering a-string LH: 0__I 2___ I 2__I 2____

(The 1st x is A on 3rd string, the 2nd x is open E)

Your fingering would be nice for a slow legato passage. But I think in this case it has to be more snappy.
I hope it's understandable..
At least my 5 centavos:)
Greetings, Güero
