Sergio Abreu guitar

Post by Folledanza » Sun Feb 10, 2019 8:33 pm

Hello every body, I've listened live to a 2002 Sergio Abreu guitar and I was immediately sent to the music heaven. Such a lyric and poetic sound with marvelous harmonics and golden timbre.
So I'm now looking for buying one of its guitars...
Does anyone know if models /characteristics of Sergio Abreu guitars are evolved throughout the years. Is there a best production period or one to avoid?
Sorry for my bad english... :D
:merci:

Rosewood Guitar in Seattle has sold a fair number of his guitars and know a lot about them.
I played one last year, and while it was not the loudest guitar, the spruce top was warm and the sound lyrical.

Give them a call.

Thanks for the advise. Yes I agree, not a cannon in term of loudness... But the more I try guitars, the more it seems to me that loudness and sound richness/complexity walks in opposite directions...

I can't answer your question directly, but I saw Fabio Zanon live in concert last year, and he played a Sergio Abreu guitar (from the 1990s, not sure offhand what year). It was the most phenomenally beautiful sounding guitar that I had ever heard in a concert (of course, his playing likely contributed, but still!). It was lyrical and colourful and the tone was out of this world ("music heaven" indeed!). It was my idea of a perfect guitar, and so if you are fortunate enough to find and buy one, if it is anything like Zanon's, I am sure that it will be fabulous! Good luck!

Hi, I played on my old Abreu 1986 on that occasion.
I also play frequently on Daryl Perry. Nowadays, when I play in Brazil I've had the luck of playing on vintage instruments, like Hauser and Bouchet; unfortunately it is not very practical to travel abroad with these instruments.

Ah, then that 1986 Abreu would be the guitar he played when I saw him. It is an awesome guitar!

That's exciting -- I hope it meets (and exceeds) your expectations! Good luck, and if you buy it, please tell us about it.

We know that guitars can vary a lot in features. I have two SA Guitars, one is louder than the oder. In other hand, one of them have dark basses, a very beautful tone. The two guitars have a very lyrical tone, sound in the way of a hauser i guitar.
