Hi there!..............I am a newbie..................just wondered what you all thought of the much debated 7th in David Russell's version of this beautiful piece!?..............seemed to me, being a Scots myself that it was very reminiscent of the Bagpipe technique and therefore totally acceptable!?

Yes, but not very reminiscent of Scots fiddle technique, therefore, for me, the opposite.
