[PDF] Sor, Fernando - op.48/06 Rondeau [updated]

Post by Paul » Tue Nov 17, 2009 5:27 pm

This is the Rondeau from Sor's opus 48 "Est-ce bien ça?"

I couldn't find this piece in the Delcamp website so I thought I'd use it as an opportunity to become more familiar with LilyPond.

I used this file here http://www2.kb.dk/elib/noder/rischel/RiBS0754.pdf as the source. It isn't a very clear copy. Things like slurs are hard to make out. A few things seem strange; the melody in bar 87 doesn't match the one in bar 59, the slur in bar 141 joins two A's and the bass notes change from dotted crotchets to dotted minims in otherwise similar sections. I don't play the piece yet, so perhaps these things are alright. I couldn't find another good (free) source so please let me know if you find any errors, or you have a link to another source. I wouldn't mind getting this right.

As far as I can see, the only change I've made compared to the source version as the addition of a natural in bar 68 to cancel the C# accidental on the first beat.

Thanks and enjoy.

The rest of the suite is here:
Sor, Fernando; op.48/01 Marche
Sor, Fernando; op.48/02 Valse
Sor, Fernando; op.48/03 Menuet avec variations
Sor, Fernando; op.48/04 Valse
Sor, Fernando; op.48/05 -

All six pieces can be downloaded in a single pdf here: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=63036

I've uploaded a new PDF as,
1. I found a mistake on bar 66 in the bass line, it should follow the pattern of the previous bar.
2. I've added the title of opus 48 in, "Est-ce bien ça?" and changed Rondo to Rondeau to match the French, and made it a subtitle.
3. Added a footnote.
4. Tweaked general layout a bit.
5. Checked the score against the score available here http://fernandosor.free.fr/Fernando_Sor.html. It's the same edition, just marginally clearer. Thanks GeoffB.

Hi Paul,

That's a beautiful job!

I've just checked my files and don't have anything that would help you to check your score,

Best wishes, V :) :merci:

Hi V and AO,

Thanks for your comments. This piece has been following me around a bit, and I need to get it under my fingers. I thought one way to become more familiar with it would be to type it out.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Paul, thank you, very nice work! I look forward to trying that.

I don't know whether it will help you, but there is another, very slightly cleaner copy of the source on this site: http://fernandosor.free.fr/Fernando_Sor.html

Thanks for the comment and the link, Geoff. The copy there is a bit clearer and I found a few places where I'd missed or added in slurs as well as a wrong note.

I'll upload a new version this evening.

Thanks !
Cette dernière trahison m'a été également reprochée. Ce que je trouve à répondre, c'est:"merde aux conventions!"

Pleasure. (I think.)

Having done this exercise of engraving this opus, I have a much greater appreciation of what music transcribers have to go through. :?

this is hands down the cutest piece in the lot! thanks again for the entire opus 48. i hope other members find this priceless gem (somewhat unknown for SOR) useful as a tool for study, reading by sight, or even performance!

This is a nice piece. I recognised it as I have been playing the version that I have at home in a book I think it is called the guitarists Hour
Cheers
